What data we collect and why

Email address (newsletter)

If you subscribe to our email list, we collect your email address. We use this solely to send you updates about new features on GenerateCountry.com. We do not send marketing for third-party products.

Legal basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing us directly.

Analytics (aggregate, no cookies)

We use Vercel Analytics to understand traffic patterns. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or fingerprint individual visitors; it collects only aggregated, anonymised page-view and performance data. No personal data is stored.

Third-party data processors

Your email address is stored and processed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit, Inc.), a US-based email service provider. Kit acts as a data processor on our behalf and is contractually bound to use your data only to provide the email service. Kit complies with GDPR through Standard Contractual Clauses.

Sentry receives JavaScript error data, browser and operating system information for error tracking and debugging purposes. Legal basis: legitimate interest in maintaining a functioning service.

Vercel Speed Insights receives Core Web Vitals and page performance metrics to help us improve site performance. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

Google Maps / Street View โ€” when you click "Load Street View" to view an embedded map, Google receives your IP address and browser information and may set third-party cookies. Legal basis: your consent via the click-to-load interaction.

Mapillary โ€” when street-level images are displayed, your IP address is exposed to Mapillary's content delivery network. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

Wikipedia โ€” your IP address is exposed to Wikipedia's API when it is called as a fallback to load landmark images. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.

Data retention

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your email is removed from our active list. You may also request permanent deletion by emailing us.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten") of your data.
  • Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
